Recovering from a filled hard drive

If you have filled your hard drive on your TWiST server, the first thing that must be done is to clear off as much space as possible (please see our article, "Common Hard Drive Fillers" for advice on where to look for clutter). Once that is done, however, your TWiST software may still be in an unusable state. Fortunately, there are several command line tools to help you get TWiST back up and running. First, try resetting the host:
service dalimServer reset
If that doesn't work, you should reset your TWiST database:
rsh -l twistadm localhost /symlnks/DALiM_6.0/w11wfl/exe/w11serv -a reset
If both of those fail, you should rebuild your Repository, following the steps in our Troubleshooter article. Once that's done, you should repeat the host and database reset steps you did earlier. If you find that your TWiST host still does not function, please open up a ticket with us.
