The DALiM Directory Server (otherwise known as the New User Server) brings new features and added stability to user management in WEBLiNK, DiALOGUE, MiSTRAL and PRiNTEMPO. Instead of using an XML file to keep track of users and their settings, the Directory Server utilizes a database which greatly increases reliability in situations when many users are needed or when settings change repeatedly over time. Before getting started with the Directory Server, there are some new terms that you'll need to be familiar with. Role - a selection of options that are used as a template to define what certain users may or may not do. Every User must have a Role. Organizational (Org) Unit - a way to classify Users based on a shared characteristic (company, division, etc.). A User can belong to only one Org Unit. Group - a way of organizing Users based on common functions. An Org Unit may have several Groups, and a User may belong to several Groups. | |
