A Variable in twist nomenclature is any value that gets set to the TWiST Table, and can be displayed through the use of the ShowMemories tool, located in the "Memories" tool category.
Variables are stored in the TwistTable in the format of Category,Property = Value, for example TwistTable(Document,Format) = EPS
Variables are set by files being processed by various tools, such as, but not limited to, the PsCheck, FileCheck, SetParamFromRE, or even the process of uploading files via the WEBLiNK interface A Variable can be any value, numeric, alpha etc, and can be used to program a workflow to behave in a certain manner that will vary depending on that variables value.
The Variables can be listed by using the ShowMemories tool, and can be extracted using the built in procedure getVar, or getMem, which are equivalent, or to create a dynamic workflow using the checkVariable procedure the word Variables is synonymous with Memories
