Should I run Software Update on my OS X-based DALiM server?

We do NOT recommend running Software Update on your OS X-based DALiM server, unless you have a good current backup of your primary drive. On several occasions, we have had OS X updates (most often involving Java) render the DALiM software unusable. Often, DALiM does not get advanced warning of a OS X update, so they are not able to provide patches beforehand, which makes the backup the only way to get up and running in a timely fashion. We can recommend the free software Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable backup drive for your server.
